A wanted man is suspected of stealing a car early Monday in Pitt Meadows.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Barrie Quirt Friesen who is wanted by police for a parole violation.

Ridge Meadows RCMP allege he stole a silver 2005 Honda Civic with British Columbia licence plates 239 RPG and is heading towards Abbotsford or Chilliwack.

Police believe the 53-year-old  is traveling alone, but are asking the public to be wary of the man.

Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said Friesen is very convincing and can befriend innocent people quickly. He often targets women.

"Anyone who observes Friesen is asked to not approach, but to contact the police agency in that jurisdiction," Dunlop added.

Friesen has a criminal record for violence including assault and robbery. He has also been convicted of driving offences such as impaired driving and driving while prohibited.

Friesen is described as a white man, 5-9, weighing 177 pounds.

He has greying brown hair and blue eyes. Friesen has several tattoos, the more noticeable ones are : "Katrina" tattooed on his left wrist; a panther on his right upper arm; a dagger and snake on his right forearm; the name "Cindy" with flowers on the left forearm and "City of Angels" on his left wrist. He has been known to use alias Bailey Danes.
