Albert Richard (Bert)
Born in Newport, Wales on August 27, 1921, passed away peacefully, being able to remain at home until the last 2 days of his life. He served in the Merchant Marines mainly on the HRMT Destiny for 6 yrs before landing in Vancouver in 1949. He was a 60 year member of the Legion where he had many a good time. Bert worked for the school board for 25 years never missing a day. His many friends will remember Bert as an avid walker, being a member of the M.R. Walking Club. Other activities included curling, and singing with the Silvertones. Bert's ready smile and cheerful disposition brought delight to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed. Survived by Edna, his wife of 55 years, 3 children: Morgan, Debra (Bill), Betty-Jean, grandchildren Marion, Jessica, and Colin, great grandson Diallo.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept 15, 2007 at 1:00P.M. at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765-224th Street, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bert's memory to the BC Cancer Foundation.
