Alfay Raymond “Alf” Mintha

October 25, 1935 – May 20, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alf Mintha. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 20th, 2019 in Mission B.C. Alf was born in Barry’s Bay Ontario. Predeceased by his father John Mintha, mother Annie Mintha, sister Monica. Alf is survived by his loving family, wife Sharon, his son Jim (Sandra) daughter Leah (Marc) and two sweet granddaughters, Maya & Aimee. Brothers Maxie, Zig (Shirley), sisters, Rev Sr Leona, Rita, Ursula, Margaret, and many nieces and nephews.
When Alf was a young man he worked for an insurance company and was transferred between provinces. When he arrived in Vancouver he knew he had found the place he wanted to call home. He met the love of his life, Sharon. They married, and had exactly 52 wonderful years together, as Alf passed away on their anniversary. Alf was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa, who had a terrific sense of humour and very quick wit. He was an accountant, and worked within the forest industry for most of his career. He loved playing golf, cheering for his Vancouver Canucks, and travelling the world with Sharon. Alf was a Maple Ridge Lions member for many years and enjoyed being involved in the community. He will be sorely missed by many friends and family members. Thank you to all the “Trim” staff in Mission for your care and compassion towards Alf and our family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fraserview Fireside lounge on Saturday May 25, 2019 at 2 pm.In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s society would be greatly appreciated.
