HUTCHINS, Bernard John Sr. Bernie died peacefully in his sleep the afternoon of June 24, 2014 at the age of ninety. Bernie was born in Munich Germany and came to Canada with his Mother when he was seven years old. He was raised on the prairies around Pelly Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Airforce during WWII. After the war he worked as a street photographer in Toronto. That is how he met Jean, his wife of over 50 years. He was self employed most of his life. His favorite saying while out on the road selling was “picnic everyday!” Bernie and Jean lived in Toronto for many years before moving to Maple Ridge, B.C. He is survived by his son Bernie, daughter-in-law Gerri, and grand-daughter Pamela, cousins in eastern U.S.A. and Florida. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. We are grateful for the excellent care Bernie received from the Maple Ridge Seniors Village staff and his fine physician, Dr. Chapman. A service will be held at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel on Friday July 4th at 2pm. 11969 - 216th Street, Maple Ridge, B.C. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Condolences can be sent to www.mapleridgefuneralchapel.ca
