On December 9, 2017, at the age of 92, Boyd Affleck made his way home.

He was predeceased by Ruth, his wife of 60 years, their son John and granddaughters Candace and Crystal.

He is survived by the families of his eight children, Joy (Bob), Don (Carolina), Nona, Pat (Tim), Kathy (Greg), his son John's widow Marlene, Bev (Al), Eileen (Bob) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Boyd was born and raised in the Kootenay area of BC. He took his family to Winnipeg in 1955 and 22 years later, moved back to Maple Ridge. He worked as a pharmaceutical rep and had a Radio Shack franchise.

He enjoyed salmon fishing, bird watching, blackberry picking and photography. Boyd and Ruth loved to travel and saw a fair bit of the world. His church community was important to him, and he served as deacon and bible study teacher.

Boyd served in the all-volunteer Canadian army in WWII and took part in the liberation of Holland. As long as he was able he visited lower mainland schools for Remembrance Day, speaking about the reality of war and the sacrifices made.

A private family memorial will be held in the New Year.
