ROUNDING, Brian

Died peacefully November 27th, 2009 at Baillie House in Maple Ridge. Born in Victoria in 1934, Brian leaves his wife Shirley, son Chris, daughter-in-law Lynn, granddaughters Allison and Laura, and sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and Bill Botting of Victoria.

Brian’s life was one of quiet dignity and personal strength. Brian refused to let health challenges define him as a person and he pursued life on his own terms. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1960, Brian spent a career as an auditor with the Audit Services Bureau of the Federal Government working in Victoria, Ottawa and Vancouver. A lifelong interest in sports cars and fixing things was surpassed only by his devotion to his family. Brian always provided unconditional support and truly believed that Chris and the girls could do no wrong in this world. Brian also cherished his friendships, many going back to his childhood in Victoria.

Throughout their 53 years of marriage Brian and Shirley were a close knit team with Shirley providing care and support as Brian’s health challenges grew. Brian’s later years were made less difficult through the efforts of the staff at Willow Manor and most recently, Baillie House. The family is most grateful for the kindness and care that Brian received.

A memorial will be held in Victoria in 2010, the date and time to be determined. For those who wish, donations to the MS Society of Canada or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
