GRIFFIN, Daniel Joseph. Aug. 23, 1931- April 20, 2014. Danny was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He married Ruth Goble in November of 1951. They eventually had five children. He and his family moved from Edmonton and made their way to Hammond where he founded the Little Chapel (which now is the High Way Church). Danny was active in Maple Ridge politics. He served 14 years as Alderman and in 1984 he became Mayor, serving four years. He also was the Chairman for the 1983 Summer Games when they took place in Maple Ridge. Then he spent a number of years as a real estate agent for Sutton Group. After retiring Danny spent many years volunteering at Maple Ridge Hospital as a Chaplin. Then in 2005 he and his wife moved to Abbotsford.

Danny peacefully passed away at Abbotsford Hospital after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents Anne and Tom Griffin, his brothers Jimmy and George, and sister Helen. Danny is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 62 years, daughter Ruth (Jerry), son Glenn (Tammy), daughter Sharon (Bob), son Tim (Sue), daughter Susan (Mike), twelve grandchildren, Scott, Derreck, Carleigh, Jordana, Lisa, Darryl, Rena, Mathew, Dionne, Joshua, Danee, Jordan, 12 great-grandchildren and his many friends.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 2 pm at High Way Church, 21746 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
