October 8, 1947 - July 27, 2021
It is with deep sadness that I announce: Darryl passed suddenly July 27, 2021. Born October 8 , 1947 in Ladysmith BC. Survived by his wife of 42 years (friend and partner for 46) Pat, daughter Jeanelle (Alex), son Shane, granddaughter Emma, and son Keith (Cynthia).
Darryl had 2 loves in his life. The first was his family and he did whatever was necessary to provide for them. His family moved a lot when he was young and he was passionate about finding the perfect home for his children and staying there so his children would be able to attend schools in the same area and make lifelong friends. That perfect home was in Whonnock BC.
His second love was moose hunting. He went to the Prince George area every year and most years came home with game. He loved to introduce people to moose meat in very creative ways. Many friends and family were converted by him. One of his most precious memories was his granddaughter Emma's introduction to moose meat (as he described it ) opening her mouth after each piece like a little bird looking for more .
Through the years, Darryl worked at many jobs. If you look at some of the high rises in West Vancouver, many of the windows in them were installed by the company he worked for when he was in his 20's. He managed a catering company for a couple of years. He worked as a sand blaster/painter for a couple of years, then in the early eighties, he took a job delivering home heating fuel. He drove fuel trucks for over 35 years, delivering everything from home heating oil to jet fuel and gasoline. He delivered locally and as far as Terrace BC.
For many years, he was a member of the Golden Eats Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada .
He would go out of his way to help friends and neighbors over the year. Whether it was sharing his knowledge, helping with a chore, or slipping them a little cash to get them through (don't tell Pat), he was there.
He will be missed by all that knew him.
