It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and nana Dolores Lucille Wood-Tielenburg.
Mom passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 21, 2020 in Maple Ridge, BC at the age of 86.
Born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan on 23 July 1933. Predeceased by husband Arthur William Wood (2007). Predeceased by late husband Theodore Johannes Tielenburg (2014) Amsterdam. Survived by children, daughter Susan Claire Zacher (Clint) Maple Ridge, loving nana to Blake, Kurtis, Brock (Samara), Derek and Lukas. Great nana to Max and Brooklyn. Son, Bradley James Wood, Kamloops. Nana to Lieren, Connor, Leith. Son Jeffrey Arthur Wood, Maple Ridge, nana to Natalie, Lyndsey, Marcus. Survived by brother Ken Botten (Marion) Langley, and sister in law Lillian Thayer Coquitlam.
Dolores moved to BC as a child where she attended school in Burnaby. Dolores married her first husband Arthur Wood in Sept 1954, residing in Burnaby before moving to Coquitlam to raise their 3 children. Relocating in 1994 to Maple Ridge.
Dolores spent many wonderful summers at the family cabin on Pitt Lake. She loved travelling especially to Hawaii. She enjoyed being an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, as president of her chapter for many years. Mom was an accomplished pianist and sang like an angel. She belonged to church choirs in her younger years. Many wonderful Christmas eve's were spent around the piano with mom playing and singing Christmas carols with family and friends.
Dolores met and married her second husband Theo Tielenburg in 2010. They travelled extensively back and forth to Europe, primarily Amsterdam where they shared a home until 2014.
Dolores will be lovingly remembered by all her family and friends in BC and in Amsterdam.
A celebration of life for Dolores will be held in the spring. Condolences and memories are welcome at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel.
