Dian Lee Murrell (Nee Dornberger)

January 7, 1945 - December 27, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce that Dian passed away peacefully December 27th in Maple Ridge, BC after a courageous battle with cancer. Dian was born in Seattle, and grew up on Vashon Island. She was predeceased by her loving husband Rob, and her sister Marit. Dian is survived and lovingly remembered by her sister Betty (Phil), daughter Shelli (Paul), and stepsons Derek (Sheryl), and Paul (Andrea). Dian will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Christina (Coleman), Robert (Amanda), Jesse, Sidney, Carlie (Tyson), Sterling, Brett, Jefferey, Jordan, Grace, Clare, and great-grandchildren Skyy, Aspen, Liam, Luna, Ava, Mischa, Sebastian, Logan, and Catalina.
Dian was a long-time resident of Maple Ridge. She and Rob moved here to pursue their dream of owning a farm and having horses. Dian grew up on Vashon Island, in a horse-loving family, and wanted to share her passion for horses with Rob. They had many years raising and riding horses together before his untimely passing. She loved her home and property and was always doing something to make it more comfortable and beautiful. And she loved her little tractor (which she could repair herself) and loved to ride it. She truly lived the life she dreamed of.
Dian loved to travel with friends and family, and in recent years enjoyed many trips abroad to enjoy museums, history, and her all-time favorite, the Lipizzan Riding School in Vienna. Dian would not hesitate to bungy-jump, zip-line, or shark-cage dive. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Dian had many close friends and family members, and she loved to throw summer back-yard parties to get everyone together. Her community was important to her and she was involved in associations for betterment. She helped many charity organizations to protect animals and people. She believed that contribution made a difference.
A celebration of Dian's life will be held on Saturday January 18th, 2020 at 1 pm at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel 11969 - 216th Street, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 5H9. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dian's name to the BC Cancer Foundation. Condolences may be sent to www.mapleridgefuneral.ca
