Jan 13, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Greeley MacPhee after a brief illness, with family at his side, on January 13, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Left to grieve and cherish his memory are his children Debbie Paulson, Jamie MacPhee (Catherine) and Laurie Laing (Barry) and his grandchildren Kaylin, Lukas, Jesse, Tyler, Ashleigh and Ryan.

Also left to mourn are his brother Walter MacPhee (Vera), sister Audrey McNeish (Andy), "adopted" children, Carol Johnston (Michael), Janet Vanier (Nick, Zach & Danielle), step-children Kathy (Jim), Maureen (Ian), Robert (Iren), Karen (Martyn), Kim (Jaret), step-grandchildren Megan (Kenton), Lindsey, Erin, Breanna, Katie, Eileen, Elizabeth, Tara and Patrick, step-great grandchildren Maeve and Kennan, his nieces, nephews and many friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Russell and Ella MacPhee, first wife Ruby, second wife and long-time companion, Patricia and son in-law John Paulson.

Born in Montague, Prince Edward Island then moving to Brantford, Ontario with his family in his teens. A road trip with friends at the age of 18 brought him to British Columbia where he met and married his greatest love Ruby, moving to Maple Ridge in 1968 to raise their family.

Don was a milkman, truck driver, construction worker, car salesman then ran his own mechanic shop in Maple Ridge, MacPhee's Auto Repair, for 20 years. He provided auto repairs and sales to the community and people still comment on his friendly, helpful and honest ways. In the early years, he enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends and he had a passion for buying and selling cars, owning over 75 cars (minimum) in his lifetime.

Don was extremely proud of his Prince Edward Island roots and would always find another Maritimer to share stories and swap tales with. He was well known in the community and could not go anywhere without running into someone and stopping to chat.

He was a very proud man, believing in hard work and honesty. His family and friends were the most important things in his life.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 3rd at 1 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 12145 Laity Street, Maple Ridge, B.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Though he may be gone, his light will still live on in the eyes of all who speak his name
