Age: 94 years.
Doris was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver at the age of 13. After graduating from Point Grey High, she worked at Vancouver City Hall. In 1966, at age 40, she went back to school and became a teacher. Doris first taught at Buffalo Creek Elementary in the Cariboo, then at Golden Ears Elementary in Maple Ridge for a total of 23 years. When she retired, she continued to live in Maple Ridge, most recently at Panorama Seniors Residence.
Doris is survived by her brother Bill Peters, wife Jean Peters, their 4 children and 4 grandchildren. She will also be missed by her many friends, especially Linda Nightingale and Wendy Huber.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chartwell Willow, extended care.
Doris will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Burnaby beside her mother, Mary Knapp. There will be no service at this time due to Covid-19. At a later date the family will hold a gathering to celebrate her life.
