February 24, 1941 - May 29, 2019
Douglas Allistar Murray, 78, retired real estate agent died on May 29 at his residence in Baillie House, a care facility in Maple Ridge. He was born in Vancouver, BC on February 24, 1941 but moved with his family shortly thereafter to Pitt Meadows where he lived out his life working on the family farm, becoming a steelworker, and eventually foreman in that industry, owning and managing Everglades Resort RV campground, as well as practiced as a licensed real estate agent for over 30 years. Along his diverse endeavors Doug encountered many people and made lasting, lifelong friendships. He will be fondly remembered for being a hardworking, generous, and kind soul ready to help anyone in need - as well being a gifted storyteller, eager to share his passionate stories of life and adventure. However, his love of hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors where he would often venture to the deep wilderness of BC's beautiful secluded landscapes brought him the greatest amount of joy. He later added to his love of nature when he discovered country line dancing and could often be found two stepping and triple stepping anywhere from Boone Country to Gabby's Cabaret. Doug is predeceased by his parents, David and Mary, and his brother John (Jack) Murray. He is survived by his brother Don, and his children and their families.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 20 at a venue in Maple Ridge; location to be disclosed at a later date. Please RSVP Cari @ 604-809-6039 if you are interested in attending.
