GREEN. Douglas. Born: July 2, 1929 in Montreal, Quebec, Died: June 24, 2011 in Vancouver, BC. It is with great sadness that the family of Doug Green announces his passing on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Vancouver General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Dad was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grand- father who was dearly loved and respected by all who had the honour of knowing him. During his younger years, Dad had a very hard life working as an underground miner in Northern Ontario and later at Brittania Beach where he worked until it's shut down. From this time forward until his retirement almost 20 years ago, he worked with BC Hydro and eventually BC Transit. In early 1961 Dad moved to BC with the three of us Evelyn, Valerie and Robert and set up home as a single father. He was a dad who provided strength, guidance, and unconditional love, stressing the importance of right and wrong and an independent mind, always putting us first. Dad is survived by his daughters Evelyn (Frank) Crowhurst, Val (Don) Huber and son Bob (Cathy) Green, his grandchildren Becky, David (Andrea), Nicole, Megan (Matt), Jason, Kimberley and Jeffery. He was extremely proud when he became a great grandfather to Emilee, Caiden and Jenna and was so looking forward to the arrival of his fourth great grandchild in just four weeks. Dad was a small man in stature with the largest heart ever! We will miss you Dad!
