IRWIN ~ Douglas Kent

1915 ~ 2006

It is with sadness and sorrow we announce the death of our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather on April 20th. Doug was predeceased by his first wife Kay (Muir) in 1973, and his wife Phyllis (Harvey) in 2004. He will be greatly missed by his sons Wally (Joyce) of Maple Ridge, B.C., and Peter of Edmonton, Ab.; his granddaughters Karen (Brad) Steels of Courtney, B.C., Trina (Shawn) Merriman of Maple Ridge, B.C.; his great grandchildren Quinn and Brittany Merriman, and Brynn and Terrell Steels. He leaves a brother Walter (Doris) of London, Ont. He also leaves his stepfamily Dona Harvey (Bill Klassen) of Waterloo, Ont., Ross Harvey (Deb, Carice and Isaac) of Vancouver, B.C., and Ann Harvey (Karl Kroeber) of Crescent Valley, B.C., and their families.

Doug taught school in Northern Ontario, served as an RCAF Officer in WW II, and had a long and distinguished career in personnel management for various companies in Ontario and Alberta.

Our gratitude goes to the nurses and medical staff of the Ridge Meadows hospital for their care and compassion for our father.

On Friday, May 5th @ 1:00 P.M. there will be a gathering of family and friends to commemorate Doug's life. This will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (Br. 88) at 12101 - 224 Street, Maple Ridge, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Lung Association in his name.
