Douglas William McDermott passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017 at the age of 96.

Doug is predeceased by his parents William and Edith McDermott. His sister Ruth Thompson also passed in October 2017.

He is survived by his nieces Sarah and Charlotte and families in Ontario, as well as his nephew Douglas and family in Japan.

Doug was born in Pitt Meadows, BC on June 9th, 1921. He went to school in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, and later attended UBC.

Doug served in WWII as a mechanical engineer who helped keep the planes flying. Upon returning home, he went to the Yukon and the Gold Dredges at Bonanza Creek.

When he returned to Pitt Meadows he worked his beloved drag lines first for Harold Sutton and later the municipality of Pitt Meadows, creating and maintaining the ditches and dykes in the lowlands.

Before he retired, Doug managed the Waste Water Treatment plant for the municipality, and retired to Denman Island.

At Doug's Request, there will be no service.
