It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grand father and friend.
Born in Ontario. Graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Western Ontario in 1948. Interned at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver where he met and married the love of his life, Norah Jamieson in 1949. Arrived in Maple Ridge in 1950 and was one of the founding doctors of Ridge Meadows Hospital. He devoted his life to his many patients until 1986 when he retired. He spent the best years of his life traveling with his family and relaxing at his rural home. One of the many joys in his life was spending time with all of his family who filled his life with love and laughter. Pre deceased by his parents; Daniel and Gladys Gallagher, Brothers; Maurice (WW2-1942), Jack and Michael. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 59 years; Norah (Twink) Children; Cathy van Dyk (Andy), Brenda Schmidt (Rick), Michael Gallagher (Jane), Brian Gallagher (Nancy). Grandchildren; Sarah Lovett (Rich), Robyn Vero (Danny), Ryan, Donald, Bryan, Evan, Scott, Erica, Nathan, Kirsten and Kevin. Great Grandchildren; Kyanna, Zachary, Jackson and Alyson. Sisters-in-law; Beryl and Kathy. Extended family from Ontario and the U.S and many extended family and close friends. His beloved Dog and Companion; Coco.
Viewing to be held from 6 - 8pm, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765 - 224th St, Maple Ridge. Funeral Mass to be celebrated Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 at 12 noon at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 22587 - 121 Ave, Maple Ridge. Interment to follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery.
