BILLOWS; Edwin

April 7th, 1934 - June 5th, 2016

A Legacy Will Be Left Behind. God called Ed peacefully on Sunday June 5th, 2016 at the age of 82 at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. He leaves his dear wife, Thyin, devoted friend and companion throughout 62 years of marriage. Ed and Thyin were blessed with one daughter, Leslie (Billows) Coutu and son-in-law, Stephen Coutu. Cherished by his grandchildren, Tiffany (Jamie), Courtney (Graham), and Justin. Proud Great Grandpa to Olivia, Mya and unborn baby Lily. Born in Ethelbert, Manitoba, raised in Togo, Sackatchewan, Ed spent most of his life in Coquitlam, British Columbia where he was an influential part of the community. Entrepreneurial by nature, Ed excelled in many areas, but particularly sales and real estate for much of his adult life and his relentless nature showed true with a successful company in Billows Enterprises. Since 1959, Ed was a devout member of the Masonic Order of British Columbia and Yukon. Through his years, he held many titles including Deputy Grand Master in 2013 for District 28.

Ed had a passion for helping and it was evident by his mercifulness and charitable work for Shriner's hospital. Since 1980, he held many different posts within the Shriner's organization including the highest honor of Potentate in 1990. Ed enjoyed nothing more than spending time with the one's that he loved and cared for the most - his family. From playing golf, to watching a grandchild's sporting events, to feeding the ducks with his great granddaughters, to having a traditional Christmas father/daughter lunch every year for the past 37 years, he was always there doing what he loved the most…being there for family during times that meant the most. Ed will forever leave a lasting impression on every life that he touched during his 82 years on this earth. The family would like to extend a very warm thank you to the physicians and staff in the Cardiac Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital for their tremendous care and support. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate on Ed's behalf to the Masonic Cancer Car Program of the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 15, 1:00 pm at Good Shephard Lutheran Church, 1504 Sprice Avenue, Coquitlam, BC.
