HANEY, Eleanor (née Rafuse)
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Eleanor Haney passed away peacefully at her home in Langley, BC surrounded by her husband and children on the evening of October 30, 2016. Eleanor was born in Richard, Saskatchewan on June 2, 1922. She moved to BC in her early 20’s, marrying her husband Thomas Haney nearly 70 years ago. She was a loving mother to her four children Gary (pre-deceased), Cheryl, Elizabeth, Kevin (Vicki), a wonderful grandmother to nine grandchildren (Jennifer, Lona, Tyler, Laura, Trista, Carla, Diana, Noel, Daniel) and great-grandmother to twelve. Eleanor was famous for delicious cooking and baking, the care she put into creating crocheted goods, her excitement for Canucks’ games and the love she had for her family and friends. She welcomed everyone who came into her home; not only family and friends, but also her children’s friends, her grandchildren’s friends, friends of friends.
At the age of 94, Eleanor spent the last few years in her home with her husband Thomas (age 101), surrounded by family and friends. She was a wonderful, kind soul who made a lasting impact on everyone who came into her life. A service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (Osborn’s), 11969 – 216th St, Maple Ridge, BC, 1-604-463-8121.
