GILBEY Eric Arthur. April 16, 1919 ~ Aug 27, 2011. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eric on August 27, 2011 after a short illness. Born in Vancouver, BC, he was predeceased by his wife Pat and daughter Della, sister Brenda and brother Jim. He will be missed by sisters Gladys and Grace, daughter Shelley, sons Randy and Jim, five grand children, seven great-grand children and his nieces and nephews. Over the years Eric worked in construction, sold livestock, operated a motel and did maintenance. He spent the greatest working time operating a crusher at Craigmont Mines and supervised maintenance for the Merritt School Board. Eric and Pat also operated a receiving home, having about 400 children stay with them for various lengths of time. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation for the care and comfort given to Eric by the doctors and staff at the Ridge Meadows Hospital and Fraser Health Hospice.
