RODGERS, Evelyn Kathleen
February 13, 1937 - May 2, 2015
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on May 2, 2015. Those who knew Evelyn will not be surprised to know she fought this illness with remarkable strength, courage and determination over the past five months. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Anselm and Rose, sister Leona, and brother Donald. She is survived by her husband Jim, sons Brent (Lynn), Brad (Karen), and Bruce (Tia); grandchildren Brandon, Bryn, Devon, Brock, Chelsea, Joshua, Brianna, Sophia, Jacob, Ginger & Guy; and great grand- daughter Emma Dawn Evelyn; brothers Mervin (Adele), Bruce (Bev), sister Sally; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Scott, Saskatchewan, Evelyn moved to Port Alberni, B.C. where she met Jim in 1960. They married in 1961, moved to Victoria in 1968, and then on to Maple Ridge in 1975 where they resided for the past 40 years. She was active with her children in sports and other activities as they grew up. She loved to travel; Hawaii for 11 years and Palm Springs for the past 19 years. During Jim's working career, she travelled extensively to various wine industry events throughout the
world with him. In her final
years, grandchildren and family meant the most to her and she loved organizing family reunions and dinners and we are forever grateful for her endeavours.
A "Celebration of Evelyn's Life" will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday May 22, 2015 at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (Osborn's), 11969 216th Street, Maple
Ridge, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Agency.
