Evonne ANTONIUK

May 26, 2014

ANTONIUK, Evonne Angeline. July 7, 1937 ~ May 26, 2014. Evonne was born near Roblin, Manitoba, the seventh of ten children to Anne and Michael Michalevich. She attended Goose Lake Collegiate, Manitoba Normal School and the University of Saskatchewan. She first taught school at Rosser, Manitoba and then married Paul Antoniuk with whom she taught at Transcona, Manitoba. They lived in Allan, Melville and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, before moving to Maple Ridge, BC in 1968 with their three children. Evonne loved gardening, walking, skiing, canoeing, fishing, camping, travelling, playing bocci, lawn darts, badminton, and canasta as well as being an avid reader. She was the family scrabble champ and was a tireless advocate of proper English grammar to all who knew her. Evonne lost her six year battle with cancer while holding Paul's hand at their home of 45 years where he had lovingly cared for her during her ordeal. Evonne is survived by husband Paul Antoniuk, son, Leonard (Sophia) and daughters Angela and Paulette, grandchildren Daniel and Rachelle, sister Love, Cynthia (Al) and Daria and brother Michael (Lucille).

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Maple Ridge Hospital and Homecare medical staff for the kindness and care given to Evonne during her struggle.
