Garry Ernest Bjornson

December 3, 1951 - July 11, 2022
With heavy hearts the family of Garry Ernest Bjornson announce his passing on July 11, 2022.
Garry was born December 3, 1951 in Port Coquitlam, BC.
Garry was the definition of a compassionate and selfless person, always helping, always making time for any person, anywhere. Garry was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Carol of 43 years, Children Paul (AnnaLee), Lisa (Jeremy) Grandchildren Audrey, Charlie and Hazel.
He enjoyed family time and many trips to Manning Alberta where his son and his family lived.
Over the years Garry was an active member of his community, helping with Pitt Meadows soccer and baseball, coaching Paul's teams for many years. He served on the Hammond United Church Executive, was involved with Tops Chapters in Maple Ridge and Chilliwack and was a member on the strata council where they lived.
Garry was a great handyman and helped his children with a lot of their projects.
Garry was very athletic over the years, he enjoyed bike riding and golf in his later years.
Garry and Carol enjoyed the cruising life and looked forward to many more trips, with covid changing their plans.
Garry bravely battled cancer for the last 6 months of his life. He also struggled with chronic illness over all his adult life (Crohn's disease), with barely a complaint.
He was pre-deceased by his mother Katherine, father Ernest, stepmother Margaret, sister Doreen and brother-in-law Alex Morrison.
He is survived by his sisters Christine (Bob), Linda (Kevin) and step sister Darlene (Phil).
Garry also leaves behind many relatives and friends, some life long. Memorial donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society or Badgut.org for Intestinal research.
Celebration of Life to be held August 12 2022 Friday at 2 p.m. at the Carmen United Church in Chilliwack.
