July 14, 1941 - July 9, 2022
Geraldine Margaret Garrett, known by her friends and family as "Gerri" passed away very suddenly on July 9, 2022 in Maple Ridge B.C after a short and very brave battle with cancer. Gerri was 80 years old.
Gerri is survived by her husband Dennis George Garrett of Maple Ridge, daughter Kelli Anne Keast of Victoria, Darryn Keast and children Josh, Jasper and Jenna Keast. Her son Jordan Dennis Garrett wife Jody Garrett and children Emmett, Hayley, Chase and Kiera Garrett. Gerri's sisters Florence Paquin, Doreen MacIntyre and Loretta Nelmes and Diane and Bill Rector, brother Jerome and wife Susan Hoffinger, Sharon and Lyle Norlander and presiding families.
Gerri is preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Norman Garrett, her mother Juliana and father George Hoffinger, brothers Ray and Tony Hoffinger and brother's in-law George Nelmes and Wilf "Mac" MacIntyre. Her sisters Bernice Claughton and Anne Holman.
Gerri was born in Macklin Saskatchewan on July 14, 1941. Gerri was the second youngest daughter in a family of 10, growing up on a farm in Denzil Saskatchewan, riding horses and enjoying a big loving family.
Gerri was a good natured and helpful child and this carried throughout her adult life. As a young lady she spread her wings and moved in with her brother Ray who she assisted at his podiatry practice in Ottawa. In her spare time she enjoyed Skiing, playing tennis, driving her MGM and socializing with her friends.
Gerri and Dennis met through an introduction from mutual friends at a pub in Aylmer in 1965, they hit it off and Dennis proposed to Gerri in 1966 at a candlelit dinner in a restaurant in Ottawa. She accepted and they were married in a catholic church in Ottawa on Easter on April 10, 1967.They enjoyed 55 wonderful years together before she passed.
Gerri lived her life faithfully devoted to church and family. She was a nurturing and loving wife, mother and grandmother. No task was too great for Gerri. We are all deeply saddened by her very sudden loss. We are also very blessed to have had an angel like Gerri in our lives.
