Gordon passed away at Hawthorne Care Centre, surrounded by the love of his family, whom he leaves behind to miss him so much; his wife Shirley, daughter Davida (Michael), grandchildren Laura and Michelle, and countless friends.
Gordon obtained a BA and BEd at UBC and an MEd from WWU. He was a classroom teacher in Vancouver and Burnaby, and later became a high school counselor. In 1963-1964, Gordon did exchange teaching, for a year, in Leeds, Yorkshire. Returning to Burnaby, he became a principal at several elementary schools.
He thoroughly enjoyed his career in public education, working with students, teachers and parents while making close friends along the way.
Gordon always had a love for music; he played in bands and taught piano throughout his life. He also loved the outdoors, whether he was fishing, swimming, golfing, playing tennis, skiing or ice skating. He enjoyed dancing, had a great sense of humour and a contagious smile.
Gordon's funeral will be conducted under Covid-19 protocols, at the Maple Ridge Cemetery, with immediate family members. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his friends; when someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.
A special thanks to the staff at Hawthorne Care Centre for the exceptional service they provided over the last four years of Gordon's life.
