DAMER, Harold Albert

January 19, 1937 – April 3, 2013

After a long battle with dementia dad’s suffering ended peacefully in his sleep April 3, 2013 at the age of 76. Dad was born in Melville, SK on Jan 19, 1937 and spent the major part of his life in Hammond, Maple Ridge, and Pitt Meadows, BC. He leaves to mourn his daughter Kathy Hocken, son Ken Damer, grandsons Nicholas Damer, Tyler & Cody Hocken, sister’s Rosie (Clarence) Granholm, Helen Klassen, & Myrna (Terry) Brewer, several nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. Through his illness he remained aware of his surroundings, but his body continued to fail, leaving him dependant on his many caregivers at Maple Ridge Seniors Village, who fondly called him “Peanut”. Special thanks to the nurses on the 1st & 2nd floor for their constant support and care for dad during his time there. Dad spent many years as a cook at the Youth Detention Center in Burnaby and later, in retirement enjoying gardening and trips to Reno. Dad will also be remembered as loving his A&W coffee and more recently Timmie’s coffee and Timbits. In lieu of flowers we would be honoured to have dad remembered with a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice. Family & friends are invited to a celebration in honour of dad’s life on April 21, 2013, 2:00 PM at Meadow Highlands Mobile Home Park, 11892 Ponderosa Blvd. (off Hammond Rd.), Pitt Meadows, BC.
