VICKERS – Helen Winnifred,

nee Piercy, in her 89th year, late of Maple Ridge, B.C., formerly of North Vancouver, on January 4th, 2005. Predeceased by her husband and best friend, John Vickers in 1996. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Jane (Lorne) Adamson, Coldstream, B.C., and Judy (Ron) Gibbins, Victoria, B.C., sons Mike Vickers, Maple Ridge, B.C. and Rick (Lesley) Vickers, New Westminster, B.C.; four grandsons and three granddaughters, and extended family in the Lower Mainland and Ontario. Helen received a B.A. at UBC, and taught high school for a few years in Lumby, then worked as a medical stenographer in Vancouver. She married John in 1948. In the late nineteen-sixties she returned to teaching for a short time in North Vancouver. She was a volunteer at St. Martin’s Anglican Church and with the Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. She spent the last years of her life at Holyrood Manor in Maple Ridge. A service with family and friends was held at MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL (Osborn's), and she was buried at Maple Ridge Cemetery on January 7th, 2005.
