MCLEAN ~ Howard Eggert

On March 1st, 2006 our father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by family in Ridge Meadows Hospital. Survived by children Ron (Chris), Claire (Tom) Manion, grandchildren Kristian (Raylene), and Kelly (Dave), great granddaughters Maddy and Avery; brothers William, Dalton (Velda), and Robert (Lorraine); sister Mae Ronalds and numerous nieces and nephews and friend Polly Baillie. Dad was predeceased by his parents (Lloyd and Rachael), wife Rosemary, brother Jack, and sisters Ruby, Irene, Jean, and Glenda.

Born August 30, 1916 in Elbow, Saskatchewan, the eldest son in a family of 10 children. Dad enlisted and served in World War II. Upon his return from the war, he married Rosemary Purdy and moved to Trail, B.C. where he joined the Postal Service (Canada Post). In 1959 he and family relocated to Haney where he served as Postmaster until his retirement in 1976. In retirement Dad enjoyed an active and rich life gardening, travelling, serving the Legion, cooking, playing cards, and enjoying his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad was totally devoted to his family and his great granddaughters were the 'light of his life'. Howard was past president and a lifetime member of Branch 88 Legion.

A Celebration of Dad's Life will be held Monday, March 6th, 2006 at 1:00p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 23500 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, 11666 Laity St, Maple Ridge, V2X 5A3.

Special thanks to Dr. Larry Lim and the caring nurses in Ridge Meadows Hospital.
