LEECH; Janice Marilla Rose

1938 - 2016

Janice was born in Vernon, BC on August 8, 1938 and passed away on October 24, 2016 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Predeceased by her daughter Laurie (2015), mother Lillian (2000), and father Jack (1955). Janice is survived by her husband Ron, son Ray (Barb), and son Ron Jr. (Luanne) as well as stepchildren Gordon (Yvonne), Wendy (Tom), Warren, Wanda (Walter), and Paul (Dawn). She is also survived by her brother Larry (Carole), and sisters Karen and Lorna. Also 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Janice was active in the Girl Guides for many years becoming commissioner of the Fraser Valley and was always a willing volunteer for cancer research, Heart and Stroke, Kidney, and Diabetes fundraising. She loved to golf, lawn bowl, and coach boys and girls baseball. Her greatest passion and commitment was to curling having been a player and active volunteer for well over 40 years. She served on committees and boards of directors, organized bonspiels, golf tournaments and parties, coached juniors, and played whatever other role she could to benefit the Golden Ears Winter Club and promote curling. Janice was not afraid to speak her mind. She had a generous compassionate view of others and could find humour everywhere. Even as Alzheimer's disease took its unfair toll, she kept smiling. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday,

November 20th at the Hammond Community Centre,

20601 Westfield Ave, Maple Ridge. (Just off 207th next to Hammond Stadium). In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choice.
