Sep 7, 1928 – Dec 1, 2017
It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to John “Jack” Gilbert Lloyd. At the age of 89 on December 1, Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Toronto on September 7th, 1928. Jack worked at a variety of jobs, from dairy deliveryman, with a horse named “Queenie” to prospector, he was quite the adventurer.
He moved to Vancouver around 1956 and eventually became a fisherman. He often said”, “He never worked a day in his life”. That’s how much he loved to fish and be his own boss!
From Jack’s early years as an activist in Toronto to his continued political commitment in Vancouver, Jack held true to his socialist commitment. As a life- long member of the United Fishermen and Allied Workers local #1 executive, Jack always stood up for the underdog.
Jack is predeceased by his wife of 40 years Audrey, and his sister Joan.
He is survived by his daughters, and son in laws: Lisa, Donna (Mark) and Tracy (Bob) his brother Don and his sister Brenda. Grandchildren: Aaron, Ashley, (Perry), Kyle, Cody, Sidney, Lydia, Carlina, Clark, and Arianna, along with his great-grandchild Lincoln, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration to take place on January 20th, 2018.
