John Gilmore (Dad/Poppa) was called home to be with his Lord on April 6, 2025, just shy of his 86th birthday. John was born in Lisburn Northern Ireland, he is predeceased by his father Victor, his mother Kathleen and his sisters Daphne, Rosemary and Ann. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years Elizabeth, his sons David (Tammy) and Colin (Michelle), his daughter Heather (Cameron), and grandchildren Caelan, Grace, Siobhan and Declan.
John married the love of his life Elizabeth almost 65 years ago. They emigrated to Canada in the early 70's, he worked hard to provide for his family. John retired as the manager of purchasing in Placer Dome, and then enjoyed retirement, playing golf, coffees at McDonald's and spending time with his grandchildren.
John dedicated his life to God and was the true example of a Christian. He gave time to the church and to anyone who needed a visit. Having kissed the Blarney stone, he was never at a loss for words. He included everyone, and nobody escaped his Oneida stories. Johns' quick wit and laugher will be missed, but we know that dad is enjoying his time with the Lord watching down on us to make sure we don't have our elbows on the table.
