August 2, 1928 - September 29, 2020
Henry was born on August 2, 1928; a son for Karrin and Victor Carlson, and a brother for Ingrid.
Growing up on Silver Hill in Mission, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved the outdoors. Henry spent the majority of his life working in the forest industry, shake splitting, road building, and timber harvesting.
A natural engineer, he could build a road and put in a bridge where nobody else could. Hunting and fishing were not a "sport", but a means of feeding the family. Henry also spent 7 years as a commercial fisherman on the west coast of Vancouver Island in Kyuquot.
Always a conscientious and hardworking provider, Henry put his family first and was generous with his time, knowledge, and talents. He could fix anything, build anything, and never hesitated to help. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of nature and was a great teacher.
Henry was a loving father to Karen (Tom) and Dan (Debbie), and he will be missed by all his grandchildren and their children: Dayton (Stephanie) with Brandt and Price; Lindsay (Jim) with John and William; Nicole (Mike) with Emma and Tanner; Rylan (Katie) with Greyer and Senna; Jesse (Zoelea) with Ryland, Mya, Abigail and Hanna; and Kaitlyn (Greg).
Henry passed away on September 29th at 9 am at home with his family. He is gone to Heaven to be with his loving wife, Viola, his partner for over 65 years. During this time of Covid restrictions, there will be no service, and in lieu of flowers, a donation in Henry's name to the BC Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
Special thanks to Dr. Naidoo and staff for their kind and loving care.
