APPLETON, Kenneth Vearing


Kenneth Vearing Appleton passed away September 15, 2016 at the age of 99. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 76 years Hilda, his son Gary, daughter Donna, his grandchildren Tyler, Brock, Angel, Angela and Tim and his five great grandchildren. Vee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born in England and came to Canada as a young boy. He served in the Canadian Army and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 88. Vee worked for General Motors for many years and came to Maple Ridge in 1954 where he began a long standing career with Mussallem Motors. Vee and Hilda welcomed the idea of raising their family in a country setting and they built a beautiful home on acreage. Vee was a valued member of his community and always gave freely of his time as a volunteer. He served as president of the Maple Ridge Lion's Club and was Commander of the local Canadian Power Squadron as well as being a dedicated instructor for many years. Vee had a passion for sailing and enjoyed many adventures with his family and friends. He built many intricate model sailing vessels which will be a treasure for his family in the coming years. Vee had a quest for knowledge and was an avid reader, joyously sharing his knowledge with others. He was a man of such great integrity whom his family and friends often turned to for advice.
