Wicharuk - Lucienne Alice Marie

(nee Savard)

September 20, 1935-February 8, 2009

Lu passed away with family members present at the age of 73. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband Wasyl; daughters Cobina (Larry) and Suzanne (Ken); grandchildren Neil, Alyssa, Stephanie, and Brent; step-grandchildren Reita and Kevin; and 6 step-great grandchildren. She was the youngest of 4 siblings; survived by her brothers Henri, René, and sister Rita. Lu was born in Verdun, Quebec (Montreal) and lived in Alberta, B.C., and the Yukon. Wasyl and Lu raised their children in Thunder Bay, Ontario and moved to their One Island Lake cottage full-time over ten years ago. They spent their winters in B.C. to be close to their family. Lu managed Wasyl's welding school, volunteered at St. Jude's elementary school and was an influential director of the French Club in Thunder Bay. Lu was an incredibly strong, caring and beautiful woman, who had a big, generous heart. She had a "Joie de Vie" (Joy of Life). She enjoyed family, nature, gardening, swimming, saunas, gambling, old movies, dancing, ice cream and never met a bakery she didn't like. She is now with her beloved parents, family and friends. She will be greatly missed until we all meet again. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 1:00pm at St. Patrick's Parish - 22561 121st Avenue, Maple Ridge. 604-463-7148. A celebration will be held immediately following the funeral, in the parish gym. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
