MOONEY, Mark Anthony

1965 ~ 2009

Mark passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2009 following a brave battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Joy and daughter Kendall. He has now found peace and is resting in heaven with his beloved mother Antonetta. Mark is survived by his father Eldon "Al", sisters Gail (Brian) and Gina (Steve) as well as nieces Sasha (Mike), Samantha and nephew David. Mark grew up in Vancouver attending Jamieson Elementary and Churchill Secondary. In his youth, he developed a passion for golf as a junior member at Langara Golf Course, played competitive baseball and had many fond memories as a Boy Scout. Mark graduated from McGill University with a B. Sc and then went on to study pharmacy at UBC. He spent his career with Overwaitea Food Group (OFG) first as a pharmacy technician, then staff pharmacist and finally for the last ten years as the Pharmacy Manager in Mission, BC. Mark touched many people's lives because of his helpful nature, dry sense of humor, and steadfast determination. He loved building computers and he became a reliable online resource for many other amateur techies with computer problems. He enjoyed travelling and was a big Disney fan. We wish to express our deepest thanks to friends and the OFG family who called, sent emails, visited and prayed for Mark during his long hospitalization. Thanks to the care provided by Ridge Meadows Hospital staff particularly Heather RN on 2 West and Dr. Zacharias. A celebration of Mark's life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 7pm at Maple Ridge Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation or BC Cancer Foundation.
