December 26, 1931 - August 30, 2021
Mary Cathie passed into eternity on August 30, 2021. Born December 26, 1931 in Yellow Creek, Saskatchewan. First born of the late John and Justine Hrynewich. Mary was the older sister of Vera (late Walter) Kowdrysh of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and Boris (Brenda) Hrynewich of Kinistino, Saskatchewan.
Mary graduated from Teachers' College in Saskatoon and started her teaching career in the Hazel Lake School District. In 1957, along with her first husband, she relocated to Pitt Meadows, British Columbia and continued her teaching career with the Maple Ridge School Board.
She taught for over 40 years. As an educator, she continued sharing her gift of teaching in her retirement. She taught English in two different Bible Schools in her ancestral home of Ukraine.
Early in her retirement, while wintering in De Land, Florida, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. Mary spent many winters during her retirement in Southern California. Mary was an avid gardener and poured herself into preserving what she grew.
Mary is survived by all of her seven children: Ronald (Marj), Gerald (Shelley), Patricia (Gordon) O'Connell, Joette (George) Wickham, Steven (Carolyn), David (Connie), Lisa (Ken) McLennan, and 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
