May 25, 1951 - February 11, 2019
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, amazing Mother and beloved Nana, Mary Halliday on February 11, 2019 at the age of 67. Mary was born on May 25, 1951 in Inverness, Scotland to Alexander (Sandy) and Marion McKay. Being the middle child and only daughter, Mary was affectionately known as Mame . In 1967, with her older brother Colin serving in the British Navy, Mary along with her parents and younger brother John, set off to start a life in Canada and made Maple Ridge, B.C their home.

A few years later, Mary went to a family friends house for fun filled party. There she saw this handsome young man strumming his guitar and you can say the rest is history. Mary had met her soul mate David and they were married on June 19, 1971. They soon expanded their family with their daughter Dana and son Andrew. Mary was a cherished Wife, Mother and Nana. She was our pillar and strength and made our family a home. In her spare time she was an amazing knitter and liked to read. She spent time with her family and friends and loved playing word games. Mum loved travelling, and her and Dad went on many adventures together. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana to her four beautiful grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she loved them so much. Mum made friends everywhere she went and made many lifelong friendships including her 52 year friendship with Susan McLaren who Mum loved like a sister. Mum was always caring for others even in her last few days she was more concerned about the other patients in the hospital rather than herself.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Alexander (Sandy) and Marion McKay, her older brother Colin McKay and sister-in-law Sally (Sarah) McKay. She is survived by her true love David, daughter Dana and son-in-law Brad, son Andrew and daughter-in-law Lauren, her four beautiful grandchildren Alexander, Avery, Brendan and Sarah and her brother John McKay. Mary also leaves behind her sister-in-law Myra McKay and nieces and nephews Rhona (Corey), Chris (Renee), Sandra (Jeffery), Callum (Celine) and Kevin (Nadine) who also loved her dearly.

Please join us celebrating her life with a tea Sunday afternoon February 24th, 2019 at 1 pm at Pitt Meadows Golf Club, 13615 Harris Road, Pitt Meadows, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to B.C. Children's Hospital.
