SMITH ~ Mary, (nee Demetrioff)
May 25, 1916 ~ Dec. 24, 2009
Peacefully at her residence, in Maple Ridge, B.C. at the age of 93, in the arms of her daughter, Mary went to be with the Lord. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Demetrioff, 7 brothers, 2 sisters, son-in-law Philip, grandson Richard, son Jerry and 3 husbands Cyril Hicks, Joseph Nider, Harold Smith. Mary was born in Liverpool, England May 25, 1916. Mary leaves behind her children, Joan of MB., Gail (Lee) and Bill (Diane) of B.C. 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 5 sister-in-laws, cousins, niece's and nephews. Special thank you to sister-in-law Eunice Whitney and nephew Bill and Cathie Demetrioff and friends for all your help, love and support at the times Mary needed it. Those who knew Mary were happy that she lived her life as she wished. She was well known for her famous "Apple Pies". She kept as independent as she wanted, very active with the Cameo Group since Spring of 2003 at the Maple Ridge Senior center and had her beloved dogs Angel and Sam always at her side. She specially loved visits from her great grand babies who made her laugh and so happy to see them. Many times she said:
"I love all my children, grand children and great grandchildren."
"I love them all!"
A celebration of life will be held at her residence 22122 Canuck Cres., Maple Ridge, B.C. on January 10, 2010 at 2pm. Mary's wishes that her ashes to be taken to Holy Ghost cemetery in Winnipeg in the spring of 2010 to be placed with Joe and Hal.
