November 26, 1929 - August 29, 2024
On Thursday August 29, 2024, our Mom, Maureen Holmgren passed away at Maple Ridge Seniors Village with family by her side. She was three months shy of her 95th birthday. Mom was born in Vancouver on November 26, 1929, to Irish parents Fred and Margaret Stinson. They moved the family to Haney two years later where Mom had a childhood full of horses, dogs, hiking and the outdoors. Even in her family of seven siblings she described herself as a loner and was happiest with her four legged companions. She left BC for adventures in the Airforce when she was in her twenties. She met our Dad, had her children on various Airforce bases and then came home to her little town with all of us in tow.
She lived most of life on the same two properties, her parents farm on Lougheed and our farm on old 16th. She was fiercely independent and when she was unable to do it all by herself anymore, she moved into Brickwater and then MRSV.
She was predeceased by her parents, all her siblings (Fred, George, John, Bobby, Dorothy and Patsy), her husband Royal (Doc), her children-in-law Julie and Len and most of her oldest friends.
She leaves us, her children, to celebrate her life and remember. Michael, Heather, Tammy, Phil, Paul and Braiden, our spouses and our kids and grandkids all will gather in the spring for a celebration of our Mom.
