April 1, 1974 - February 28, 2022
Melaina Dawn Neufeld (nee Stoesz) was born April 1 1974 in Maple Ridge, B.C. She passed away far too soon on February 28 2022 at the age of 47. She is survived by her loving husband Clayton Neufeld, and her son William Neufeld. She is also survived by her parents Betty and John Stoesz, sister Aimee Pavitt (Kevin Pavitt), Father-in-law Dr Allen Neufeld, Mother-in-law Valerie Neufeld, and sister-in-law Allison Carcamo (Rodrigo Carcamo). She is also survived by her five beloved nieces and nephews Ayla and Alyvia Pavitt and Mateo, Valentina, and Santiago Carcamo.
Anyone who had the privilege of meeting Laine will understand how deep and profound this loss truly is. She lit up a room unlike any other, and had a way of making everyone feel so important and unconditionally loved. Despite Laines lifelong struggle with health issues, she was remarkably positive and always smiling. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and was always the first in line to help someone in need. She truly saw the beauty in all of life's moments and was an inspiration to us all. While her list of accomplishments are long, her pride and joy absolutely came from the beautiful family she created with her loving husband and incredible son William. In these moments of heartbreaking grief, we find comfort in knowing how fortunate we are to have loved and been loved so deeply by such an incredible soul.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital for their kindness and support during Melaina's final days. They would also like to thank her family physician Dr Marla Connor and Oncology team at VGH for their ongoing care. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Melaina's name can go to BC Cancer Agency or the Kidney Foundation. There will be a celebration of life held for family and friends on April 2, 2022.
