LEINHAAS, Michael Paul. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Paul Leinhaas on

December 18th, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Worms, Germany on November 23rd, 1965. Michael came to Canada in 1989 as a German soldier, stationed in Shiloh, Manitoba. He met Anna in 1989 and the two were married in 1991. They moved to Maple Ridge, BC shortly after. Michael was a friendly man and became friends with many people through his work at Chances Casino, Maple Ridge. He is predeceased by his father Gunther and father-in-law Rosario Ardita. Survived by his loving wife Anna, son Nickolas, mother Brigitte, and Leo Leonhardt, brother Joerg (Julia), all of Germany, brother - in - law Giuseppe (Lenora) from BC, mother-in-law Nunziata Ardita, brothers-in-law Nino, Sal (Grazia), sisters-in-law Rina (Nino), Maria (Joe), Elena (Eugenio), all of Winnipeg, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives in Canada and Germany. Michael was an avid basketball player and fan of the L.A. Lakers, them being his favorite team. In lieu of flowers, a trust account has been set up for Nickolas with Westminster Savings, 22415 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge, account # 452739614. Funeral Service Saturday, December 21st at 3:00 pm at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (Osborn’s), 11969-216th Street. Reception to follow in the Patio Room of the Chapel.
