It is with great sadness, we announce that Mike passed away peacefully on April 30, 2019 in Port Coquitlam, BC, after a long illness with Lewy Body Disease.
Mike was born in Orlov, Slovakia and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He grew up in Whonnock, Maple Ridge. Mike attended Maple Ridge Secondary where he met and married his love of his life, Susan in 1966. After high school, Mike attended the University of British Columbia and BCIT where he earned a degree in Technical Engineering.
Mike worked for BC Hydro designing transmission lines for 35 years. He was also a designer and architect of some of the finest homes in the lower mainland during late 80's and 1990's. After retirement, Mike and Sue spent their time restoring the Historic Carter House in Maple Ridge.
He was predeceased by his Father Paul Chizik, Mother Maria Cizik, Brother Jon Cizik, Father in law Neil Agle, Mother in law Ruth Agle, Sister in law Lorraine Foggo (Agle) and Son Micheal Cizik. Mike (Dad) will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years Susan, his daughter Maria (Anthony), grandchildren Dale (Miranda), Taylor and Carter as well as his Siblings, John, Paul, Mary, Gizela, Stephen and Anna.
Finally, at peace, we will all miss Mike immensely. Mike was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Thank you to the staff at Nicola Lodge in Port Coquitlam for all of your care over the last three years. In Lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's or Parkinson's society would be deeply appreciated.
