Nahad Hussein "Nan" Helmy

Nahad Hussein Helmy (Nan) of Maple Ridge, B.C. Born May 1922 in Egypt and passed away on July 1st, 2019 at the age of 97.
Predeceased by her loving partner Austen (Barney) Knapp.
Survived by a nephew Tarek and grandnephews, Marwan and Mostafa in Egypt.
Nan is greatly missed by her family, close local friends Greg, Rose and Randy and many other dear friends from across Canada and around the world.
Nan lived her long life on her own terms and shared many stories with us. She became a Canadian citizen in 1967. Worked for Bell Canada in Quebec from 1963 to 1978 and then moved to Vancouver and was employed as a housekeeper until 1985.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Maple Ridge Branch of the SPCA OR to Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation for the Baillie House gardens would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Baillie House, 11762 Laity St., Maple Ridge (her home for over 2 years) on Saturday, August
