It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Nelie. Born in Vancouver, Nelie attended UBC, Laval and U of T, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree and
Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Johnson worked in Maple Ridge as a family physician for many years.
Early in her career, Nelie developed a passion for helping patients contribute to their own health and well being. Her study of alternate healing methods led to the conclusion that every disease and illness carries with it a personal message. Hence, counselling became a strong component in Nelie's practice as she worked with patients supporting a wholistic approach in their journey toward healing. She also developed a keen focus on working with women and breast cancer. Nelie shared her knowledge as a contributing author to several books on healing and wellness. She has inspired and encouraged many people through the various dimensions of her work. Nelie's motto was to live with joy, fun, passion and gratitude. She was committed to a life-long pursuit of personal and spiritual growth.
Nelie found great joy in relationships with family and friends, in nature, sports, and music. She enjoyed hiking, skiing, travelling, sailing and walking. Her musical interests encompassed listening to classical, folk and ethnic music as well as participating in dance and song.
Nelie was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Catharina Johnson, and brother, Philip.
She is survived by brother, Harold (Diane), sister-in-law, Katherine, nephews, Daniel (Vanessa), Mark (Magda) and Samuel and grand nephews, Maverick, Elliot and Theodore.
The family wishes to thank Monique MacDonald and the Sacred Gifts tour group for their great kindness during Nelie's final hours.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in November.
