BARKER ~

Patricia Marie (nee HILL)

July 22, 1923 ~ January 13, 2006

Pat joined her husband Alvin at rest early on the morning of January 13, after a brave battle with cancer. She was predeceased by Alvin in 1995 and great-grandson Corey in 2005. Pat is survived by sons Bill (Lin) of Maple Ridge, Mickey (Darileen) of Girouxville, Alberta, and Glenn (Tracy) of Campbell River. She is also survived by grandchildren Marie, Tracy, Scott, Tristan and Gillian as well as great grandchildren Keegan, Taylor, Kirsten and Kennedy. Also mourning her loss is brother Royden Hill of Edmonton and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the US. Born in Fort William, Ontario, Pat married Alvin in 1942 and worked in various war plants during WWll until enlisting in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service. She was very proud to serve her country. A B.C. resident since 1951, she lived in Penticton, Ocean Falls, Campbell River and Maple Ridge. Over the years she was active in many organizations. In Maple Ridge she was particularly appreciative of her friends in the Tri-Service Women, the Royal Canadian Legion and the opportunity to attend meetings of her WRCNS association.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Brightwell, the staff at Home Care Support, the Home Care Nurses, the residents and staff at Legion Manor and Maria Penacho for their care and consideration during her time in Maple Ridge. Service was held in Campbell River January 18. Donations in her memory to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
