DE JONG, Paul Darren. May 6, 1981 - June 22, 2014. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Paul passed peacefully and entered into his heavenly home into the arms of Jesus. He will be sorely missed by his parents, Al and Jenny DeJong, his sister Cheryl and Dave Penner (his brother-in-law, boss, & friend), Jasmine, Kirsten, and Caitlyn. Brothers: Richard and Melissa DeJong, Alex, Destiny and Aidan. Mark and Cecy DeJong, Braedon and Victoria. Timothy and Caitlyn DeJong, and Bill Rose. Grandma DeJong and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were touched by knowing him. Paul graduated from Fraser Valley Christian High in Surrey, and went on to live in Smithers, BC where he worked as a lifeguard. From there he went into construction, and loved his work. He lived his life to the fullest. His childhood passions were competitive swimming, soccer, baseball, and the 4-H program - showing Holstein calves, rabbits, llamas and pigs. As an adult he gave back to the 4-H program by judging at many local fairs including Maple Ridge, Chilliwack and the PNE. He was scheduled to judge the rabbit show in 2012, but was diagnosed with cancer June of 2012. He was again scheduled to judge that same show this August. We would like to thank Dr Mawani, all the doctors and nurses in Abbotsford cancer unit, and the doctors and caring staff at McKinney Creek Hospice. A Celebration of his Life will be held on June 28 at 1 PM in the Maple Ridge Christian Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers we would like to set up a perpetual award in his honor at the 4-H Show at both Maple Ridge & the PNE if funds permit. Any additional funds collected will be donated the BC 4-H Foundation in his name to be used in funding 4-H programs in BC. Condolences can be sent to:
