Hallgren 1937 - 2013. Before his passing on 11th of August 2013, Per Henry "Peter" Hallgren had forged a 76-year-old trail of laughter, generosity, compassion and wisdom. He was more than a role model for his family. He was their rock. Pete's final days were spent with his family surrounding him as he touched the lives of many. Although he fought a difficult battle to the end he was able to live life to the fullest, savouring and cherishing every moment. He valued time at his "home away from home" in Powell River, sharing it with his family and friends to which he also shared his love of dogs and boats with the latter producing many memories of navigating the salt chuck. During his illness, he spent most of his time with his wife Peggy of 47 years, travelling or just spending precious time together. Despite the fact that his frail body began to give up to the disease, his fighting spirit led on to Peter living a few more days as he waited for the arrival of all his family to see him off peacefully into the sunset. Peter is survived by his wife, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A casual Celebration of Life for Peter will be held on Saturday the 24th of August at the Maple Ridge Golf Course club house, 20818 Golf Ln, Maple Ridge from 2pm till the last man or woman standing (Pete's words). Stories of Peter's life although most are not child appropriate are always welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
