Rick Burton, of Maple Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Rick married his high school sweetheart, Dale Lord, a happy marriage that spanned more than 60 years. Together they had two children, Lynn and Jim.
Rick worked in telecommunications all his life. He and Dale moved steadily west to grow his career, through Montreal, Edmonton and finally Coquitlam.
Rick was an avid sportsman, his favourites including hockey, golf, curling, and skiing. Rick and Dale loved boating on their 33 foot "Overdrawn" before they discovered the open road and RVing, which they enjoyed long into retirement.
Rick loved good company, particularly the fun times with the BCTel group, and was an active, opinionated dad who loved a great discussion. He was also a lifelong dog lover, and will be greatly missed by Maggie.
Rick is survived by his wife Dale, Lynn (Dave), Jim (Roberta), granddaughter Alexa, sister Sheila (Don) Whitlock, and sister-in-law Cheryl (Gary) McGuire, and nieces and nephews across the country and Georgia.
Rick was pre-deceased by his brother Frederick and his parents Helen and Richard. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. The family appreciates your fond memories in lieu of donations or flowers.
