BOWYER, Robert Michael (Ribsy). November 5, 1933 - July 10, 2011

Robert (Bob) Bowyer passed away peacefully with family by his side at McKenney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge, BC, at the age of 77. Bob was born at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster and raised in Port Hammond, BC. Bob, was predeceased by his dear wife Loretta (Bubs), and they were long time residents of Maple Ridge, and formerly, of Port Coquitlam. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his 4 children, Mike (June), Michelle (Melissa), Lou (Linda), Kaleen (Barb), his 5 grandchildren, Kevin (Diane), Steve, Laura, Aaron & Kelsey. Bob also leaves behind his sister, Claire Bowyer of Langley and brother Albert Bowyer of Calgary, Alberta. He will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who shared in his life, and in many good times and celebrations at the family home in Maple Ridge. Bob was an accomplished athlete throughout much of his youthful years. Most notably, Bob was a gifted baseball player, playing in the Dewdney Men's league for many years. He also played a mean game of golf and he smashed many a shuttlecock with authority in his day. Bob's work career at ESCO Limited in Port Coquitlam spanned 38 years where he was the plant superintendent for over 20 years. He was affectionately known as the "Man of Steel" by those he knew him in that capacity. The Bowyer family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at McKenney Creek Hospice who gently and lovingly cared for Dad in his final days.

Service and reception will be held Friday July 15th at 11AM at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765 - 224th Street, Maple, Ridge. Burial to follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Society would be greatly appreciated.
