KILSBY Robert Ernest

Born November 24, 1930 in Haney, B.C. Passed away suddenly and peacefully in Ridge Meadows Hospital on August 19, 2009. He was predeceased by his son Paul in October 1991, and his wife Helen, in December 2007. He is survived by his daughter Patricia, his daughter-in-law Derrien, and his grandchildren Jenny, Julien, Nicolas and Christopher, and their partners Tyler, Sarah, Claire, and Cindy, his grand-daughter -in-law Vanessa, and great-grand-daughter Isabelle Faith Graham.

In his younger days, Bob was an award-winning boxer, an avid hunter and fisherman, a baseball player and coach, a bowler and a curler. He was the middle barber in the three chair Stag Barber Shop in Haney for almost 40 years. After retirement and until his final days Bob enjoyed each day working outdoors and in his garden, and living in the home that, with the help of friends and family, he built in 1963. Bob never lost his capacity for humour and wit, and we will always remember his acrobatics, when he would stand on his hands, and walk through the living room, dropping change from his pockets, as we all gathered what we could find.

In memory of the love and constant companionship he shared with his most recent adopted pet, Jessie, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maple Ridge BC SPCA, at 10235 Jackson Rd. Maple Ridge.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 at 1 p.m., at MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL (Osborn’s), 11969 - 216th Street in Maple Ridge.
